Thanks to efficient intelligence work, the
managed to seize 2.5 tons of drugs in five operations throughout the country.
These narcotics were presented to the media at a press conference on Saturday morning.
The considerable shipment was confiscated in various areas of Lima, Junin, and Ayacucho regions, in operations carried out on August 22-25.
"The seized drug is the result of the latest raids that have been taking place as a result of the patriotic operation carried out in the Vizcatan area, which is executed by the Armed Force together with the National Police of Peru against terrorist remnants," PNP General Deny Rodriguez explained.
The PNP Anti-Drug Directorate Head commented that the ongoing fight in the area has generated new illicit drug trafficking movements in the
VRAEM, where those organizations illegally operate in symbiosis with terrorism.
"Thanks to these interventions, we have also been able to seize long-range and war weapons, which serve to provide security to these organizations when they transport their drugs from one place to another," he indicated.
The General affirmed it is important for citizens to get to know the work carried out by the PNP on a permanent basis, in addition to what is occurring in Peru's interior regions "since the fight against terrorism, drug trafficking, and organized crime is the primary task of the Interior sector and law enforcement."
