Police agents from the Machu Picchu Police Station, located in the Cusco district of the same name, apprehended two men, suspected members of the criminal gang "Los Malditos de Photoshop" (The Damned of Photoshop), for allegedly counterfeiting entrance tickets to
The suspects were identified as A. Gamarra (34) and J. Garcia (27) and are under investigation for the alleged offense against public trust in the form of general forgery. They were located and caught in the act at the tourist attraction last week.
The two men allegedly facilitated visitors' entry using altered tickets.
The intervention followed an alert from a Culture Ministry administrator, who detected irregularities in two tickets presented by Chilean tourists.
When the tickets were verified by control personnel, they were found to have been scanned and crudely altered, showing discrepancies in the authorized entry circuits.
Following the operation, the altered documents were seized and placed in police custody.
The suspects were taken to the police station to continue the legal proceedings, with the Public Ministry (Prosecutor's Office) duly notified.
