Cabinet Chief Denisse Miralles on Monday announced that she will appear before Congress, accompanied by State ministers, to present the government's general policy and request a vote of confidence next Wednesday, March 18.

A day earlier, Miralles announced that she would meet today with Congress Chairman Fernando Rospigliosi to define the matter and to start a round of dialogue with parliamentary groups.

"I have just held a meeting with the Chairman of Congress and, among other things, we have coordinated the date on which the Cabinet would be requesting that the vote of confidence be scheduled; this would be Wednesday, March 18," she told reporters after the meeting with Rospigliosi.

Likewise, the Prime Minister said that during the meeting with the Congress' head, the Executive Branch reiterated its commitment to focus on priorities.

These include addressing the emergency caused by heavy rains, strengthening the fight against crime, and ensuring an orderly and transparent electoral process.

Dialogue with parliamentary groups

The Prime Minister announced that the Cabinet will meet with the country's political leaders through congressional groups in the coming days to build a joint work agenda.

The sessions will share the government's ongoing efforts in priority areas such as combating insecurity and addressing El Nino.

The Presidency of the Council of Ministers' (PCM) head underscored that the Cabinet has no political colors.

She added that its goal is "to work for what matters most, which is Peruvians," while guaranteeing citizens' access to public services and a present State.

The government's spokeswoman said she is confident there will be open dialogue with congressional groups so that they can work together during the five months remaining in President Jose Maria Balcazar's government.

"We are working in this regard; we have discussed this with the Chairman of Congress, and we hope to secure the vote of confidence on the basis of what this country needs: national unity," Miralles concluded.
