Peru: Piura chocolate wins 4 gold, 3 silver medals at Singapore Chocolate Awards

00:00 | Singapore (Singapore), Aug. 16.

Korin Chocolate, made up of cacao beans native to Buenos Aires district in Peru's northern Piura region, has been awarded four gold and three silver medals at Singapore Chocolate Awards 2019.

The awarded products come in different flavors, all with different combinations of ingredients including coffee, chia and sesame, passion fruit, as well as quinoa and kiwicha.

Korin Chocolate makes organic chocolate without cacao butter, sugar, and milk. It consists only of cacao and panela (unrefined brown sugar).

Spouses Liz Medina Panta and Faruk Eltimur, owners of the brand, have so far received 27 international medals for the flavor and quality of this pure, organic product.

Medina claimed they make real chocolate, since one can enjoy the floral aroma of cacao while eating it.

"Savoring it is not only a pleasure but healthy because it only contains creole white cacao and panela," she emphasized.

Other Peruvian products were granted gold at the competition: Global Coop SAC/Marca Bakau Blanco-Piura 75%, Millesime Chocolat Chocolate Peru – Salted butter caramel – 55% milk, Legast artisan chocolatier Piura – Perou (bean to bar) – 70%, among others.
