Piero Corvetto, who resigned on Tuesday as head of the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE), arrived this afternoon at the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office. He attended proceedings to hand over his passport and provide voluntary information within the framework of the investigations into the events that occurred on April 12, the day of the 2026 General Elections.

The resigning official was summoned by the Second Provincial Corporate Criminal Prosecutor's Office Specialized in Crimes of Corruption by Public Officials for 4:00 p.m. (local time), but he arrived half an hour earlier.

Corvetto had a chaotic arrival at the venue amid members of the press seeking to obtain his statements.

The former ONPE head expressed his willingness to cooperate with the prosecutorial investigation, in which he is participating as a witness.

Likewise, he offered to authorize the lifting of the secrecy of his communications and to hand over his valid passport.

In that regard, Assistant Prosecutor Leonardo Rosales ordered that "the proceeding for the witness' voluntary delivery of information" be scheduled for today at the prosecutor's office.

The Second Provincial Corporate Criminal Prosecutor's Office Specialized in Crimes of Corruption by Public Officials is investigating alleged irregularities reported in the distribution of electoral materials and in the conduct of the elections held on April 12.
