Each citizen over 40 years of age must present a
vaccination card to confirm having been immunized with three doses of the COVID-19 vaccine in order to be allowed to enter closed public places,
Health Minister Hernando Cevallos has announced.
The Cabinet member specified that this measure —which seeks to promote the administration of the booster dose among the adult population— is part of the provisions incorporated into the new supreme decree approved at
the Council of Ministers session on January 26.
Curfew
The high-ranking official reported that this supreme decree also establishes the suspension of mandatory curfew at the national level, starting the day following the publication of said rule.
"There will be no more curfew in our country. This entails health considerations; an assessment has been made for several days on the impact of curfew and we consider suspending it," Cevallos indicated.
However, the minister clarified that the end of curfew does not mean that social gatherings, parties, or events involving crowds of people are authorized. In fact, they remain banned.
"The decision to lift curfew does not mean that parties, social gatherings, or crowds are allowed. They are expressly prohibited in accordance with the supreme decrees that are in force," he indicated.
Along these lines,
Minister Cevallos clarified that discos can only operate as long as the capacity limit is complied with.
Capacity limit
On the other hand, he reported that another provision included in the supreme decree sets the capacity limits at stadiums and coliseums in provinces under high alert —such as Lima and Callao— at 50%.
