The National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) has managed to process 100% of the electoral records linked to votes for presidential and vice-presidential candidates following the 2021 general elections held on April 11.

The processing of the 86,488 records was possible thanks to the installation of 104 computer centers nationwide —a number higher than the 94 Decentralized Electoral Process Offices (ODPE)— at which work was carried out in an uninterrupted and strictly professional manner, the organization indicated.

Absolute transparency for the processing and counting of the minutes allowed representatives of the attending political organizations to witness this activity, given that —at each of the 104 computer centers— special spaces were set up for work purposes.

In this sense, the processed records are those that entered the computer centers and went through the typing and verification process to identify observations or non-observations. Those that did not have observations were counted or computed.

The typing process relied on two moments: the first to determine the coincidence in the information and be recorded in the database, and the second as a quality control to compare the content of the images with those registered in the computer system, as well as to verify that the data matches.

The minutes were then qualified. Those that registered any observations are being referred to the Special Electoral Board (JEE) in order to be resolved. Otherwise, observations are directly stored in the computer system.

The observations denote challenged votes, material error (inconsistency in the numerical data entered), illegible data, or that the total number of citizens who voted was not recorded.
