Peru: OAS Secretary General congratulates new Foreign Affairs Minister

The Organization of American States (OAS) Secretary General Luis Almagro on Thursday welcomed the designation of Gustavo Meza-Cuadra as the new Minister of Foreign Affairs of Peru.

Almagro used his Twitter account to greet the newly sworn-in official after he joined the Cabinet led by Vicente Zeballos.

The career diplomat will thus replace Nestor Popolizio in the post.

In 2013, Meza-Cuadra was appointed Permanent Representative of Peru to the United Nations. He also presided over the UN Security Council in April 2018 and June 2019.
