The Permanent Representative of Peru to the Organization of American States (OAS) Harold Forsyth affirmed he hopes that the final report by the high-level group of said organization, expected to arrive in Peru, will bring unity and lead to putting an end to political confrontation.

The ambassador affirmed that OAS mission members will talk not only with President Pedro Castillo and other Executive Branch officials, but also with Congress' Chairman Jose Williams, as well as with various political forces represented at Parliament.

They might also dialogue with members of the Judiciary, the Prosecutor's Office, and some civil society organizations.

According to the diplomat, it is possible that two or three weeks after the visit, or even a little more, high-level group members will present their final report to the OAS Permanent Council. The document will reflect its members' point of view.

"We hope that this final report (by the OAS mission) will be a factor of unity for the Peruvian family and that all of us know how to put an end to this confrontation which has been wearing us down so much and has been causing us so much damage for many years," Forsyth said in remarks to radio Exitosa.

"A day must come when we begin to respect one another a little more, put aside the insults and permanent attacks, and see the future as the outcome of a joint work by a single people," he added.

The Peruvian representative to the OAS indicated that the high-level group is made up of highly-qualified professionals —five of them are Foreign Affairs ministers and other two are deputy ministers of the same sector.

"It is a very competent group. Consequently, they will know how to gather the information they need, ask the corresponding questions; after that, they will process the information according to their experience and, above all, their overall vision," he pointed out.

The envoy clarified that, as of this moment, no Peruvian authority has any interference in the agenda or the stance that OAS delegation members will assume.

Ambassador Forsyth said that in the next few days the mission might announce the date of the trip to Peru. He also projected that it could be in mid-November, since its members are high-ranking authorities in their respective countries and must synchronize their schedules.

Regarding the final report, the Peruvian representative to the OAS affirmed the ideal is that these recommendations be well received by all sectors in the country.

"It is important that a little bit of tranquility reigns again at some point," he remarked.
