Peru: Ministerial Cabinet gets confidence vote

Most Congress members granted a confidence vote to the Cabinet led by Prime Minister Anibal Torres on Wednesday at 1:30 a.m. (local time).

The Cabinet received 64 votes in favor, 58 against, and 2 abstentions.

Joined by his team, the Prime Minister arrived at Parliament headquarters on Tuesday afternoon to present the Government's general policy and listen to the parliamentary debate.

Afterwards, some ministers explained their plans in detail to lawmakers.

During his speech, the Cabinet chief mentioned the efforts undertaken by the Government.


According to Article 130 of the Constitution, the Prime Minister must attend Congress joined by the Cabinet to present and debate the Government's general policy —within 30 days after having been sworn in to office.
