Mining investment in Peru totaled US$4.117 billion between January and July this year, representing a 45% increase compared with the same period in 2025 (US$2.839 billion), the
Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) reported.
This result was driven by the increased pace of project implementation and activities related to the development of operations, which help sustain the Peruvian mining sector's performance and growth outlook.
This is according to the latest edition of the Mining Statistical Bulletin (BEM), published by Minem's Directorate General of Mining Promotion and Sustainability (DGPSM).
It states that mining investment totaled US$812 million in July 2026, a 22.7% increase from June (US$662 million) and a 55.1% expansion compared with July 2025 (US$524 million), the highest monthly level recorded so far this year.
In the Development and Preparation category, cumulative investment reached US$888 million, a 108.7% expansion over the amount recorded in the same period of 2025 (US$426 million).
In July 2026 alone, investment totaled US$183 million, up 43.4% from June (US$128 million) and 123.5% compared with July 2025 (US$82 million).

Infrastructure
Regarding Infrastructure investment, the cumulative total as of July 2026 reached US$1.128 billion, a 70.5% increase over the amount recorded in the same period of the previous year (US$661 million).
Investment last July totaled US$200 million, up 29.9% from the US$154 million recorded in July 2025.
Meanwhile, investment in the Beneficiation Plant category totaled US$707 million through July 2026, a 21.3% increase compared with the same period in 2025 (US$583 million).
In July 2026, investment totaled US$141 million, up 21.5% from June (US$116 million) and 52.6% compared with July 2025 (US$92 million).
As for Mining Equipment investment, the cumulative total through July 2026 reached US$493 million, a 3.8% increase from the same period in 2025.
In July 2026 alone, this indicator reached US$119 million, a 103.4% expansion compared with June.
Mining Exploration
The BEM also reports that cumulative investment in the Exploration category totaled US$412 million from January to July 2026, a 2.8% increase from the same period in 2025 (US$401 million).
In July 2026 alone, investment totaled US$76 million, up 15% from June.
Lastly, in the Other category (dam construction, resettlement, intangible assets, land purchases, etc.), cumulative investment totaled US$489 million, a 66.7% increase compared with the same period in 2025 (US$293 million).
Meanwhile, investment in July 2026 totaled US$93 million, a 4.5% increase from June (US$89 million) and a 103.8% year-on-year expansion from July 2025 (US$46 million).
At the regional level, as of July 2026, Arequipa was the country's leading destination for mining investment, with US$654 million, equivalent to 15.9% of the national total.
Ica followed with US$586 million (14.2%), and Moquegua ranked third with US$415 million (10.1%).
