The Judiciary granted the Prosecutor's Office request and ordered an 18-month ban on leaving the country for National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) former Chief Piero Corvetto, in the proceedings against him for alleged aggravated collusion to the detriment of the State.

The restrictive measure was issued during a hearing held Thursday.

It also applies to co-investigated individuals Jose Samame, Juan Phang, Juan Alvarado, Hilda Otoya, William Garcia, and Lilia Flores.

The decision was issued by Judge Manuel Chuyo, of the Second Preparatory Investigation Court in Lima, after most of those under investigation acquiesced to the Prosecutor's Office request.

"All are under investigation for alleged aggravated collusion, following the detection of possible contract steering for the distribution of electoral materials in the April 12 elections," the Public Ministry stated.

Lawyer Julio Arbizu, who is in charge of Piero Corvetto's defense, stated during the hearing that his client agreed to the prosecutorial request as an expression of his willingness to cooperate with this investigation.
