The Ministry of Interior (Mininter) on Thursday incinerated 13.8 tons of drugs as outcome of various police operations nationwide, which constituted the last drug destruction process of 2021.

This destruction, which was carried out at the National Police Special Operations Unit (Diroes) headquarters in Lima, included illegal drugs such as: basic cocaine paste, marijuana, and cocaine hydrochloride, among others.

Thanks to this fourth and last burning process of the current year, more than 83 tons will be destroyed, said Interior Minister Avelino Guillen during the ceremony. This amount is a record figure in the history of the ministry.

In this regard, the official said the fight against drug trafficking must be absolute, adding that the Government will continue to support the Police so that this work does not stop and is successful.

"We commit to optimizing and providing the National Police with all logistical support. We will redouble efforts so as to strengthen anti-drug operations and contribute to the fight against citizen insecurity," he emphasized.
