Peru Health Min meets with nurses and doctors as part of "Health Unites Us"

16:08 | Lima, Apr. 24.

Health Minister Victor Zamora on Friday met with representatives of the Peruvian College of Nurses to whom he promised the necessary promotion, protection, and care —during the pandemic— through the provision of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and training, as well as an improvement in the health bonus.

In a meeting with said professional association —held within the framework of the "Health Unites Us" strategy— the Ministry of Health (Minsa) pledged to engage nursing department heads in hospital management committees.

Other issues covered in the gathering include the elimination of contracts with third-party service providers and their rapid inclusion into the Service Administrative Contract (CAS) regime.

This motivates coordination with the association in order to promote the Unified Health System.

As is known, Zamora also met with representatives of the Peruvian College of Physicians (CMP), with whom he agreed to issue medical licenses to foreign doctors so that they can join Peruvian health workers in the battle against the coronavirus.

During said meeting, along with CMP Chairman Miguel Palacios Celi, it was agreed that foreign doctors will be able to join the teams responsible for the care of COVID-19 patients and those who identify the positive cases, while their fellowship is being prepared.

The fellowship is an essential requirement for professional practice in Peru. Therefore, in the event of the health emergency, the registration is being completed online in order to expedite the insertion of doctors so that they can cope with the epidemic, which has spread to several regions across the country.
