The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Thursday met with Chile's President-elect Gabriel Boric at the Municipality of Santiago.

The Head of State was accompanied by Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Cesar Landa and Ambassador to Chile Jaime Pomareda.

Upon arrival at Santiago's airport, in order to attend the inaugural ceremony on Friday, Mr. Castillo extended his best wishes to the future President of Chile, Gabriel Boric.

In addition, he highlighted that both countries are at a coincident point.

"The colleague and brother Boric assumes the responsibility as a result of a democratic process (...). I wish him every success and that his administration would be what the people need," the Peruvian President said after getting off the airplane at Arturo Merino Benitez Airport.

"It is time to tell the world and Latin America that Chile and Peru embrace one another at a coincident point. We are linked by history, by the challenges that our peoples face, and by the challenges posed by the pandemic, which require joint actions," he expressed.

Mr. Castillo's official activities in Chile will include a meeting with Ecuadorian counterpart Guillermo Lasso at Sheraton Tower.

Likewise, the Head of State is scheduled to meet with the Peruvian community in Santiago, also at Sheraton Tower.

Finally, President Castillo will participate in the greeting ceremony of Heads of State and Government to Chilean President Sebastian Piñera at La Moneda Palace.
