19:30 | Pichari (Cusco region), Oct. 3.

The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Sunday affirmed that the Valley of Apurimac, Ene and Mantaro Rivers (VRAEM) is another priority of the Government.

In addition, the Head of State reiterated his commitment to construct a university, a specialized hospital, and an airport in the district of Pichari.

Mr. Castillo's remarks were delivered during a meeting with farmers at Pichari's Main Square in Cusco.

"Thanks to your vote and effort, today we have this great task of responsibly fulfilling what the people demand. We will give it our all, without stealing a penny from the people, without swindling the people," he remarked.

Addressing authorities and farmers in Pichari, the Peruvian top official mentioned that mayors are welcome at the Government Palace to work on projects that facilitate the commercialization of their products and to make the VRAEM area witness real development.

In this regard, the President commented that he was in favor of providing education opportunities in VRAEM, noting that he supports the construction of a university in said area.

"VRAEM cannot wait any longer for the construction of a university or the construction of trails and roads to connect populated areas where coffee, cacao, and other products are sold," he said.

Additionally, he stressed the urgency of building a specialized hospital and prioritizing the operational capacity of an airport in Pichari, noting that another Government's priority is to ensure people's health.
