President Dina Boluarte on Wednesday announced that the total investment in the Beca Tec program amounts to S/3.5 million (US$1 million), reflecting the commitment of the State and Government to provide quality technical education to more Peruvians.

The Head of State highlighted that this new scholarship program, launched at the Government Palace today, focuses on high-demand careers in the labor market, including networks and systems; mechanical, mining, and civil engineering; business administration; and other fields critical to the country's development.

The top official explained that in this first call, more than 130 public and private institutes are participating, and a total of 300 scholarships will be awarded: 30 for technical assistants, 90 for technicians, plus 180 for professional technicians.

Additionally, there are plans to expand the initiative to 5,000 scholarships in 2026.

"For this Beca Tec program, the total investment exceeds S/3.5 million, reflecting the commitment of the State and our government to providing quality technical training for more Peruvian men and women," Mrs. Boluarte said.

The top official noted that, at the beginning of her administration, the Beca 18 program offered only 5,000 scholarships, and that the number has now reached 20,000.

The President stated that the goal is to award 50,000 Beca 18 scholarships by July 28, 2026, 'when we say to Peru: mission accomplished, and leave office.”

Likewise, she emphasized that the alternation of power is the foundation of a strong and solid rule of law in a democracy.

"We are a government that builds modern schools, bicentennial schools that will endure for the future, and provides scholarships that represent an opportunity for change and advancement for our youth," she stated.

The top official urged young people to make the most of the new Beca Tec, offered by the National Scholarship and Educational Credit Program (Pronabec).

Moreover, Mrs. Boluarte stated that the Government will continue to support them and their drive to move forward, in order to build the country's development.

"Every Sol (Peruvian currency) we allocate to education is not an expense but an investment, and you deserve it," she emphasized.
