The Government of Peru —through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs— on Thursday extended greetings to the Government and people of the United States of America on the occasion of their 248th anniversary of independence.

On July 4, 1776, the Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence two days after a vote on separation from the United Kingdom.

The Declaration became the birth certificate of the United States of America as a nation independent from British rule.
