The Government of Peru extended cordial greetings to the people and Government of Ecuador on the occasion of the 217th anniversary of the First Cry of Independence and Ecuador's National Day, commemorated on August 10.
"We reaffirm our commitment to continuing to strengthen our exemplary relationship of friendship, cooperation, and integration," the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on social media.
It also emphasized that the joint development and well-being of both countries will continue to be built on these principles.
Ecuador commemorates today the First Cry of Independence, which took place in Quito on August 10, 1809.
The date is considered the beginning of Ecuador's independence process and is a national public holiday.
As part of bilateral relations, shortly before assuming her current office, Peruvian President Keiko Fujimori held talks with her Ecuadorian counterpart, Daniel Noboa.
During the meeting, both highlighted the political dialogue conducted through the Binational Cabinets and expressed their willingness to hold the next edition in Lima at the end of this year.
According to the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Fujimori and Noboa reaffirmed the strategic priority of bilateral relations established with the signing of the 1998 Brasilia Peace Accords.
