Peru: Government appoints new Deputy Electricity Minister

The Executive Branch designated Francisco Martin Mendoza Saldarriaga as the new Deputy Minister of Electricity, a position that had been vacant following the resignation of Waldir Eloy Ayasta Mechan.

Through Supreme Resolution No. 011-2025-EM, published in the Official Gazette El Peruano on Monday, Mendoza Saldarriaga was named Deputy Minister of Electricity, a position considered one of trust.

Since May 29, 2025, the Deputy Ministry of Electricity had been entrusted to Deputy Hydrocarbons Minister Iris Cardenas Pino, following the resignation of Waldir Ayasta Mechan.

The recitals of the regulation state that the Deputy Electricity Minister formulates, coordinates, implements, and supervises the policy for sustainable development in the field of electricity, in accordance with the corresponding national policy.
