Peru: Government appoints Hugo Begazo de Bedoya as Devida Executive President

The Executive Branch has made official the appointment of Hugo Alberto Begazo de Bedoya as the new Executive President of the National Commission for Development and Life without Drugs (Devida), according to a regulation published in Official Gazette El Peruano on Thursday.

The Supreme Resolution No. 123-2026-PCM establishes the need to ensure continuity in the leadership of the entity responsible for designing and implementing national policies for the fight against drugs.

In this regard, the Executive Branch appointed Begazo de Bedoya as Devida's head, in accordance with current legal provisions governing the appointment of high-ranking public officials.

Likewise, the resolution accepts the resignation submitted by Berthin Enrique Gomez Vela.

He had served as Devida's Executive President since his appointment under Supreme Resolution No. 262-2025-PCM.

The government expressed gratitude for the services rendered to the State.

The Supreme Resolution bears the signatures of the President of the Republic, Jose Maria Balcazar Zelada, and Prime Minister Luis Enrique Arroyo Sanchez, who countersign the decision adopted within the framework of their constitutional powers.
