Peruvian team at the Para Swimming World Series Lima 2025 showed a standout performance, winning a total of nine medals thanks to its remarkable results from rising talents at the VIDENA Aquatic Center, in the capital city.
At just 14 years old, Micaela Apaéstegui and Isaías Sono, athletes supported by the Peruvian Sports Institute’s (IPD) Athlete Support Program (PAD), thrilled fans in Lima by adding three more medals on the final day of competition.
Apaéstegui captured two gold medals in the 50m freestyle, clocking 33.23 seconds to take first place in both the A Final and the Youth Final. These victories bring her total at the event to four medals, following gold in the Youth Final of the 400m freestyle and silver in the A Final of the 50m backstroke.
Sono also reached four medals overall after earning bronze in the Youth Final of the 50m freestyle with a time of 50 seconds, adding to his previous gold and two silvers in earlier sessions.
One of the event highlights came on Day 2, when Dunia Felices set an Americas record in the A Final of the women’s 50m breaststroke, winning silver with a time of 1:03.80.
These achievements reinforce the progress of the Peruvian Paralympic Committee and the national para-athletes’ preparation process, supported by the IPD, ahead of the Lima 2027 Parapan American Games.
