, during which they highlighted the dynamic political dialogue fostered through the Binational Cabinet meetings and confirmed their willingness to hold the next edition in Lima later this year.
According to Peru's Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a post on social media, Fujimori and Noboa reaffirmed during the meeting the strategic priority they attach to bilateral relations since the signing of the 1998 Brasilia Peace Accords.
The meeting was attended by Foreign Affairs Minister-designate Carlos Espa as well.
"They also agreed to strengthen dialogue to address shared challenges such as public safety, the fight against transnational organized crime, and exchange experiences in prison management," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.
The gathering took place at the Torre Tagle Palace in Lima.
Earlier in the day, Fujimori Higuchi met with Speaker of the House of Representatives Rachid Talbi Alami (Morocco); Special Envoy of President-elect Abelardo de la Espriella, Jose Manuel Restrepo (Colombia); President Santiago Peña (Paraguay); and President Jose Antonio Kast (Chile), among other dignitaries.
All of these meetings took place as part of the activities leading up to the official transfer-of-power ceremony.
In accordance with the protocol established by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Announcement Commission of the Congress of the Republic will arrive at the Torre Tagle Palace to invite the president-elect to the presidential inauguration ceremony at the Legislative Branch headquarters.
Fujimori Higuchi is scheduled to be sworn in as President of the Republic after noon. She will then deliver her first address as head of state, outlining the main policy guidelines to be implemented during her administration.
The presidential inauguration ceremony will be attended by national authorities and high-ranking dignitaries, including King Felipe VI of Spain, as well as President Daniel Noboa (Ecuador), President Jose Antonio Kast (Chile), President Yamandu Orsi (Uruguay), President Jose Raul Mulino (Panama), President Santiago Peña (Paraguay), and President Rodrigo Paz (Bolivia).
Also attending will be U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau.
He arrived in Lima to take part in the Supreme Transfer of Command ceremonies on behalf of President Donald Trump.
