Peru reaffirmed its commitment to promoting effective and results-oriented partnerships during its participation in the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Partnership Forum, held as part of the organization's 80th session.

At the meeting, Peru underscored international cooperation as a key tool for delivering tangible benefits to the population and advancing the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

The government agency noted that this forum is aimed at promoting transformative, equitable, innovative, and coordinated action.

Within this framework, priority was given to strategic areas such as access to water and sanitation, clean energy, industry and innovation, as well as the development of sustainable cities, all of which are directly linked to improving people's quality of life.

Coordinated response to development gaps

During its participation, Peru underscored that, as a middle-income country, it continues to face persistent structural gaps that require coordinated and results-based responses.

In this regard, the South American country highlighted the importance of multi-stakeholder partnerships for eradicating poverty, reducing inequalities, strengthening digital and technical capacities, and addressing complex challenges such as organized crime and the triple environmental crisis.

Regarding the exchange of good practices, Peru presented its experience with presidential meetings and binational ministerial cabinets involving neighboring countries as a concrete and results-oriented partnership mechanism.

These initiatives incorporate action plans with clear objectives, defined responsibilities, and established timelines, enabling the delivery of tangible benefits for sustainable development and cross-border integration.

The ECOSOC Partnership Forum is an annual platform that brings together Member States, United Nations system entities, the private sector, civil society, and other relevant stakeholders, with the aim of exchanging experiences and promoting effective partnerships that translate into real and sustainable impacts for citizens.
