The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued an official statement to clarify the scope of the recent supreme resolutions terminating the duties of a group of political ambassadors, detailing the measure's legal framework and ruling out any connection to the ongoing electoral processes.

According to the document issued by the institution, the publication of these supreme resolutions is part of a regular administrative and protocol procedure.

This process formalizes the conclusion of the diplomatic missions of those representatives and is expected to be completed in July 2026.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that the measure applies to the political ambassadors currently posted to Costa Rica, the French Republic, the Republic of India, the United States of America, and the Kingdom of Spain.

In this regard, the government agency reminded citizens that, because these are positions of trust appointed by the Executive Branch, the officials must invariably leave office upon the conclusion of the corresponding government term, pursuant to Law No. 28091, the Diplomatic Service of the Republic Law.

The Executive Branch institution reported that the current government does not plan to appoint new political ambassadors to replace the outgoing officials at the aforementioned diplomatic missions.

As a result, responsibility for appointing the next heads of mission in those countries will fall exclusively to the incoming administration.

Finally, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs categorically ruled out any connection between the termination of these diplomatic assignments and the conduct of the second presidential election abroad.

It also emphasized that the organization of voting outside the national territory is fully guaranteed and remains under the responsibility of Peru's consular offices abroad, which already have the electoral materials required for Election Day (June 7).
