Peru: FA Ministry honors U.S. ambassador with Order of Sun

The Peruvian Government awarded United States Ambassador to Peru, Lisa Kenna, with the Order of the Sun in the Rank of Grand Cross.

The award was handed over by Foreign Affairs Minister Ana Cecilia Gervasi on Wednesday.

This award has been granted in recognition of the efforts undertaken by Kenna to strengthen the bilateral relationship.

It must be noted that the diplomat was granted the distinction shortly before the end of her diplomatic duties in Peru.

Ambassador's reaction

Via social media, U.S. Ambassador Kenna expressed satisfaction with the award.

"I am highly honored to receive the decoration of the Order of the Sun of Peru," the diplomat stated in a Spanish-language message.

"I am happy to serve in this wonderful country," she added.

The event was held at Torre Tagle Palace in the Peruvian capital, Lima.
