The Peruvian Government on Wednesday expressed its deep concern over Israel's recent military actions in Gaza Strip, which caused the death of 20 people at the Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis, and reiterated its call for respect for international law.

In a communiqué, Peru also expressed its rejection of the announcements regarding the expansion of settlements in the West Bank and the military control of the city of Gaza due to the implications these actions generate on the civilian population and their living conditions.

Likewise, the Peruvian State reiterated its call for the full respect of international law and United Nations resolutions, urging renewed efforts to achieve a two-state solution: Palestine and Israel living in peace within secure and mutually agreed-upon borders.

Similarly, Peru joined the statements of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, which warn about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, with emphasis on famine and the impact on children.

Moreover, it reiterated the need for the immediate release of hostages and a ceasefire.

Additionally, Peru joined the call of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, who requested peace and justice in the Middle East.

Lastly, the Government reaffirmed its commitment to peace, security, and stability in the Middle East, expressing hopes that talks between both parties will lead to lasting peace in said region.
