Peruvian shipments to the world totaled US$26.762 billion in the first four months of this year, reflecting a 26.1% increase over the same period in 2024 (US$21.219 billion), the Association of Peruvian Exporters (Adex) reported.
It should be noted that, with the 28.2% increase last April (US$6.432 billion), exports have accumulated 12 consecutive months of growth, after having experienced a 6% decline in April of last year.
Primary portfolio
According to the "Export Report – April 2025" from Cien-Adex, traditional shipments between January and April amounted to US$19.767 billion, showing a positive variation of 26.3% and representing 73.9% of the total.
Mining was the leading activity, with US$17.280 billion (+27.9%) thanks to greater shipments of copper and raw gold, which together accounted for 63.2% of primary exports.
It was followed by hydrocarbons and traditional fishing, with increases of 0.3% and 68.2%, respectively, while agriculture declined by 27%.
China was the main market for this category (48.7% of the total). The rest of the top 10 included the United Arab Emirates, Canada, India, Japan, the United States, Switzerland, South Korea, Germany, and Brazil.
Non-traditional
Meanwhile, value-added shipments totaled US$6.995 billion, reflecting a 25.5% growth compared to the same period in 2024 (US$5.573 billion), and accounting for 26.1% of total exports.
Of its 11 sectors, 9 closed in positive territory: agribusiness (28.3%), chemicals (18.9%), iron and steel metallurgy (32.5%), fishing and aquaculture (51.1%), apparel (14.6%), metalworking (39.9%), textiles (16.2%), jewelry (10.6%), and miscellaneous —paper, hides and leather, footwear, and others— (2.5%); while non-metallic mining (-6.9%) and timber (-20.6%) ended in decline.
The standout item by FOB value was fresh grapes (US$742 million) with an increase of 56%.
Other products included avocados, frozen squid, blueberries, mangoes, cacao, refined copper wire, natural calcium phosphates, unalloyed zinc, among others.
The United States (US$2.130 billion) positioned itself as the leading destination, accounting for 30.4% of the total shipped globally in this category, with an increase of 29%. Completing the top 10 were the Netherlands, Chile, Spain, Ecuador, China, Mexico, Colombia, South Korea, and Brazil.
In the January–April 2025 period, 3,266 products were exported (31 more than in the same four-month period of 2024), by 6,081 companies, 341 more than during the same period last year, to a total of 151 countries.
