The Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) reported that 16 mining projects, located in different regions of the country, plan to begin financial investment between 2025 and 2029, with a combined investment estimated at US$15.169 billion.
According to the "Mining Investment Project Portfolio 2025," published by the General Directorate of Mining Promotion and Sustainability (DGPSM), nine mining projects are projected to begin execution by 2025, with a combined investment estimated at US$7.407 billion.
This investment planned for next year represents 11.6% of the total Mining Investment Project Portfolio.
This phase includes the following projects: San Rafael Replacement (US$293.5 million), Tantahuatay Replacement (US$127 million), Colquijirca Replacement (US$502.5 million), and Raura Replacement (US$76.2 million).
Also included are Tía María (US$1.8 billion), Corani (US$579 million), Pampa de Pongo (US$1.78 billion), Zafranal (US$1.9 billion), and Huancapetí Expansion (US$345 million).
Regarding 2026, financial execution of three projects is expected to begin: Huarón Expansion (US$118 million) in Pasco, Cerro Verde Optimization (US$2.1 billion) in Arequipa, and Ferrobamba Replacement (US$1.75 billion) in Apurímac. Together, these initiatives represent an investment of US$3.97 billion, representing 6.2% of the total investment.
The Coroccohuayco Integration project in Cusco is scheduled to begin financial execution in 2027, with an investment of US$1.5 billion. The Los Calatos (US$655 million) project in Moquegua and the Trapiche (US$1.038 billion) project in Apurímac are also expected to begin that same year.
Together, the three aforementioned projects total US$3.193 billion. Additionally, the Coimolache Sulfides project in Cajamarca is scheduled to begin execution in 2029, with an estimated investment of US$598 million.
It should be noted that the 2025 Mining Investment Project Portfolio includes 46 projects that have not yet defined their start date, mainly because they are in the early stages of development.
In addition, one project is currently suspended. Together, this group represents an investment of US$44.368 billion, equivalent to 69.2% of the total Portfolio.
