Peru: Economy-Finance Ministry coordinates National Infrastructure Plan 2025-2030

13:21 | Lima, Mar. 5.

The National Sustainable Infrastructure Plan for Competitiveness (PNISC) for the 2025-2030 period will have a territorial approach and prioritize a portfolio of investments to be strategically coordinated, the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) has announced.

The plan, which is currently being developed by the MEF, will have a long-term vision and will enable Peru to achieve its national economic development goals, according to Deputy Economy Minister Denisse Miralles.

As part of the Task Force: "Third High-Level Dialogue on Infrastructure," organized by the British Embassy and the MEF, Deputy Minister Miralles stated that the PNISC 2025-2030 is being developed.

It relies on technical support from UK institutions such as the Institution of Civil Engineers, the National Infrastructure Commission, and the technical assistance from the Sustainable Infrastructure Program implemented by the Inter-American Development Bank.

The official emphasized that one of Minister Jose Salardi's priorities is recognizing that infrastructure is not an end in itself but a means and that ensuring the sustainability of projects executed through any modality favored by the Peruvian State is essential.

She added that Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) are the appropriate vehicle to ensure the sustainability of projects through long-term contracts that prioritize service quality.

Therefore, the MEF is actively working on reforming the private investment promotion system.

Meanwhile, General Directorate of Investment Policy and Promotion Head Emerson Castro highlighted that the PNISC 2025-2030 will coordinate State entities and private companies, incorporating acceleration mechanisms to ensure swift execution and rapid impact for the benefit of the population.
