The
Ministry of Health (Minsa), through the Directorate of Integrated Health Networks in Southern Lima (DIRIS Lima Sur), has decreed that COVID-19 vaccination brigades will get to places that people visit during Holy Week (from April 13 to 17).
The Villa Maria del Triunfo Fishing Terminal, the Pescadores Beach in Chorrillos, the Atocongo Bus Terminal in San Juan de Miraflores, Metropolitano's Matellini Station, as well as entrances to temples, are the places chosen to receive the vaccine eligible population in the coming days.
"We want citizens to complete their COVID-19 vaccination series so that they can have a safe Holy Week but, above all, they can be protected," Diris Lima Sur Director General Pio Yapo Quispe remarked.
"Through this strategy, we bring vaccination closer to the people, we no longer only stay at the vaccination sites, but we also go out and meet people to facilitate the process," he added.
In this regard, the head of Diris Lima Sur reported that vaccination teams will be placed at the Villa Maria del Triunfo Fishing Terminal and at Pescadores Beach in Chorrillos on April 14-17 from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
"We know that many people take advantage of these holidays to travel. For this reason, Diris Lima Sur will send vaccination brigades to the Atocongo Bus Terminal in San Juan de Miraflores, on April 13 (from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.) and on April 14 (from 06:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m.," he stated.
Yapo also noted that vaccination teams will continue to vaccinate people at Metropolitano's Matellini Station from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
"The stations in the Metropolitano bus rapid transit system have been strategic locations for the immunization process since April 1. 1,400 doses have so far been administered at this vaccination site," he added.
Similarly, in coordination with healthcare centers at the primary care level, vaccination sites will be set up at some temples.
