The Christmas and New Year's holidays in 2025 in Peru are expected to mobilize 2.1 million local tourists inside the country and generate an estimated economic impact of US$ 294 million for the Peruvian economy, projected the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur),
"Of this total, 38% would correspond to those traveling during the Christmas holidays and 62% to those traveling during the New Year's celebrations. This significant influx of tourists will contribute to boost the local economy and the regions chosen as destinations," stated the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Teresa Mera.
It is important to remember that the Peruvian government declared Thursday, December 25, 2025, for Christmas and Thursday, January 1, 2026, for New Year's Day, as holidays.
Similarly, Friday, December 26, and Friday, January 2, were declared non-working days for the public sector. These are in addition to two weekends: December 27-28 and January 3-4, 2026.
