The President of the Republic, Jose Maria Balcazar, wished
during a protocol ceremony to be held at the Congress of the Republic.
"We wish the President every success and hope that, when the time comes for her to hand over power, she will also do so in a peaceful and orderly manner," Balcazar told reporters.
The outgoing head of state announced that he will return the presidential sash to the Congress of the Republic.
He highlighted that the transitional government, which took office months ago, fulfilled its mandate of overseeing the general elections and ensuring an orderly transfer of power.
"We are carrying out the transfer of power, and we will hand over the presidential sash. We fulfilled the mandate entrusted to us by Congress to hold free and fair elections," Balcazar told reporters.
"The facts speak for themselves—the number of public works we have carried out in just a few months and, above all, the restoration of peace and an orderly transfer of power, as it should be. I hope there will be no more disruptions in the transfer of power in the future," he added before returning to Government Palace.
