Peru's total annualized exports reached US$109.413 billion as of the second quarter of 2026, up US$26.321 billion from the second quarter of 2025, the
"As a percentage of GDP, these exports reached 29.1% as of the second quarter of 2026, up 2.5 percentage points from the same period in 2025," the issuing entity emphasized.
On a quarterly basis, exports amounted to US$27.279 billion in 2026's second quarter, representing a year-on-year increase of US$7.106 billion (35.2%).
"This greater year-on-year dynamism is explained mainly by the 39.2% increase in export prices of traditional products, which was reinforced by the 5.4% growth in the volumes shipped of these same products," the BCR explained.
Moreover, it indicated that the dynamism in exports of traditional products was mainly underpinned by higher gold shipments recorded by the National Superintendence of Tax Administration (Sunat).
To a lesser extent, the increase in copper export volumes also contributed to the growth, explained by a statistical base effect resulting from the anomalous swells that had limited shipments by major mining companies at the beginning of the second quarter of the previous year.
