participated in the signing ceremony of reversal notes on the extension of validity of the Peru-Ecuador Border Region Binational Development Plan.
Currently, this plan constitutes a State policy that promotes mutual cooperation between both countries, whose main objective is to help improve the living standards of populations in northern and northeastern Peru, as well as in southern and eastern Ecuador.
It includes carrying out activities, as well as promoting projects and programs, that allow the border region to become economically integrated and accelerate its productive and social development, trying to minimize the negative effects of the environmental impact that may be generated.
Likewise, it contributes to integrating the border region and overcoming the situation of backwardness with respect to the rest of both countries' territories, in the understanding that cooperation and mutual trust are the means to achieve the well-being of present and future generations, thus improving their living standards.
Afterwards, the Heads of State witnessed the signing of the regulation for the agreement that establishes the Binational Commission for Integrated Water Resources Management of Transboundary Hydrographic Basins between both countries.
The Commission was created on October 20, 2017, in order to consolidate bilateral coordination, articulation, and participation, supported by an ecosystemic and sustainable approach for the best use and management of water resources in nine shared basins.
