Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Elizabeth Galdo stressed that Peruvian agro-exports have experienced 8.1% growth in the first four months of this year, compared to the same period in 2023, driven by the performance of products such as coffee, cacao, limes, and avocados.

The Cabinet member inaugurated the third edition of Agrofest 2024, the modern agriculture megaevent organized by the Association of Agricultural Producer Guilds of Peru (AGAP). It takes place at the National Sports Village (Videna) in Lima from June 12 to 14.

In turn, AGAP Chairman Gabriel Amaro highlighted the importance of Agrofest as a space to establish strategic alliances that underpin this sector's development and serve as a means to solve the country's food crisis.

In this regard, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Representative in Peru, Mariana Escobar, indicated that sustainable and inclusive production must be stimulated for the benefit of two million family farming producers since their harvest is key to solving the global food crisis.

Lastly, Congress Agrarian Commission Chairwoman Cruz Maria Zeta underscored the importance of this event to promote the productivity, competitiveness, and development of agriculture in all its dimensions.
