Deputy Agrarian Policies Minister at Peru's Agriculture and Irrigation Ministry (Minagri), Juan Risi, affirmed Peruvian agricultural exports are expected to total US$10 billion in 2021.

"We have to continue working to increase agricultural exports. Last year, they totaled US$6 billion in spite of Coastal El Niño phenomenon," Risi told Andina news agency.

In addition, the government official highlighted the need to continue betting on different markets considering all products holding a position in the marketplace, such as blueberries, grapes, avocados, and mangoes, among others.

Efforts will be made to promote exports of white potatoes, mainly to southern Brazil, since potato chips are popular in such market. So, work is being carried out to get the product certification, he added.

Risi believes the market provides an opportunity for Peru, as it is favorable and becomes more and more prominent.

His remarks were delivered on Tuesday at 2017 Peru Export Forum, held at Lima Convention Center in Peru's capital city.
