Peru reached an agreement with the United States to implement the Electronic Nationality Verification (ENV) Program, the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.
This information was released by the Peruvian government agency through its official account on the X platform.
"Peru reaches an agreement with the United States and secures the implementation of the Electronic Nationality Verification (ENV) Program, a procedure that will enable the swift return of nationals with a final deportation order by reducing their waiting time in detention centers," the post noted.
In this regard,
the U.S. Embassy in Peru highlighted the measure adopted by the Peruvian Government, aimed at improving assistance for Peruvian nationals with a final deportation order.
"We applaud the Government of Peru for agreeing to adopt the Department of Homeland Security's Electronic Nationality Verification Program," the diplomatic mission stated.
It added that this procedure will facilitate the swift and humane return of Peruvians lacking official documentation from the U.S. to their home country.
"This agreement underscores Peru's commitment to partnering with the United States to counter illegal immigration," the U.S. Embassy concluded on X.
