Peru: 53% citizens approve of President-elect

53% of Peruvians approve of President-elect Pedro Castillo's behavior following the runoff election on June 6th, an Institute of Peruvian Studies (IEP) poll conducted for La Republica newspaper revealed on Saturday.

According to the survey, his approval rate has increased six points in comparison to June, while 45% Peruvians disapprove of his behavior.

Likewise, the poll indicates that the approval is higher in rural areas and provinces in central and southern Peru, in contrast to Metropolitan Lima.

Furthermore, 45% of respondents stated that Castillo is democratic, meanwhile 31% consider him to be authoritarian.

The survey also points out that 50% of Peruvians have positive feelings regarding his incoming administration, 34% affirmed that it gives them hope, and 16% said it gives them confidence.
