Peru 2026 Elections: Armed Forces Joint Command and ONPE coordinate actions for runoff

The Joint Command of the Armed Forces (CCFFAA) and the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) coordinated during a meeting the actions to be carried out as part of the electoral process scheduled for Sunday, June 7.

The announcement was made through a post on the CCFFAA's official account on X.

"The chief of the CCFFAA and the acting head of ONPE met to coordinate the work of the Armed Forces and various public institutions in order to guarantee security for the second round of the 2026 General Elections on June 7," the statement said.

The meeting between CCFFAA Chief Cesar Briceño and ONPE Head Bernardo Pachas was held at the military headquarters in Lima.

The Armed Forces play an important role in the conduct of electoral processes in the South American country.

The different branches of the Armed Forces are responsible for protecting polling stations nationwide and safeguarding electoral materials.
