National Elections Board (JNE) Chairman Roberto Burneo on Thursday estimated that the second-round election results would be officially declared on Friday, July 3, marking the completion of the final milestone in the 2026 General Elections.

"As for the official proclamation of results, we are already conducting it through the Special Electoral Boards. We estimate that we will officially declare the second-round results next Friday, July 3, in accordance with all procedural matters," he stated.

Speaking to the press, the JNE chairman said the awarding of credentials to senators, deputies, and Andean parliamentarians "marks the beginning of the final phase of the General Elections."

"Today's ceremony represents the collective effort of the entire electoral system. It also represents the will of the people to elect those who will ultimately represent us," he pointed out.

Burneo noted that the General Elections' runoff is coming to a close, as the Special Electoral Boards will conduct the corresponding official proclamations from Thursday, June 25, through Saturday, June 27.

"So, it (the official declaration of the second-round results) will take place much earlier than we had indicated, given the complexity of the electoral process, which has no equivalent in other countries," he explained.

The JNE head made these remarks ahead of the credential presentation ceremony for the elected senators and Andean parliamentarians.

This event was held at the Medical College of Peru (CMP) headquarters in Lima's Miraflores district.

The presentation of the documents accrediting them as elected senators and Andean parliamentarians is being carried out in accordance with the official record proclaiming the election results, signed by the JNE plenary on Friday, June 19.
