Peru: 12-month inflation expectations down to 2.1% in Jan 2020

The 12-month-ahead inflation expectations of economic analysts and the financial system fell from 2.2% in December 2019 to 2.1% in January 2020, thus standing within the target range (between 1% and 3%) since May 2017, the Central Reserve Bank (BCR) has reported.

Likewise, the BCR indicated that inflation expectations of financial and non-financial companies and economic analysts decreased to rates between 2% and 2.2% for 2020 and between 2.3% and 2.4% for 2021 —within the target range.

Furthermore, the issuing entity noted that all economic agents reduced their inflation expectations for this year.

Moreover, it explained that economic analysts lowered them from 2.3% to 2.1%, followed by financial companies (from 2.2% to 2%). Non-financial companies also reduced them from 2.4% to 2.2%.
