09:45 | Lima, May 08 (ANDINA).
Beatles legend Paul McCartney has reiterated his excitement about playing for the first time in Peru on May 9, as part of his Up and Coming tour.
"I’m thrilled. I'm going to a place I've never been before. Plus, I love South American fans and you love music. So I'm very happy to play in Lima," the British star said to Peru's daily newspaper El Comercio.
In a telephone interview, the rock icon said that his band members are also excited about Monday's concert at Lima’s Monumental Stadium, where dozens of fans have been camping out since Thursday.
The 68-year-old McCartney declined to reveal any details of the set list as he wants it to be a complete surprise.
Sir Paul Mccartney is scheduled to arrive in the Peruvian capital on Sunday morning. During his stay, the ‘Hey Jude’ hitmaker will be awarded with Peru's Order of the Cinchona Tree for his environmental work.
In a bow to the musician's vegetarianism, the stadium's food concessions will offer three Peruvian-potato dishes created especially for the concert.
