15:36 | Dubai, Jan. 04 (ANDINA).
Peruvian striker Paolo Guerrero scored the opener for Bundesliga side Hamburg in their 3-2 friendly win over Al-Wasl on Tuesday.
Under oppressively humid conditions in Dubai, Hamburg managed to take the lead through Jose Paolo Guerrero, who headed in a cross in the eighth minute.
Ruud van Nistelrooy doubled the visitors' advantage from the penalty spot after being pulled down by Mohammad Al Balushi at the edge of the penalty area, goal.com reported.
Just when it appeared that the hosts were on their way to a heavy defeat, they caught a break as Alexandre Oliveira drew a foul from Muhamed Besic, earning a penalty that Mohammad Omar netted for the 2-1.
Oliveira had a clear chance to equalise on 31 minutes after Frank Rost committed a howler, but the forward missed his 25-yard effort on an open goal. Later in the first half, Omar netted the equaliser, but had his strike called back for offside.
In the 69th minute, Mahir Jasem restored parity after springing the HSV offside trap and finishing well when through on substitute goalkeeper Jaroslav Drobny.
In the closing moments, the hosts were denied a possible penalty, and were heartbroken as Ben-Hatira capitalised on a somewhat fortunate bounce to fire in the winner.
Tuesday's match was the first of 2011 for both sides. Hamburg next take on Ajax in a friendly on Saturday, and on the same day, Al-Wasl face Al-Shabab in the Emirates Cup.
