The Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday reported that 24 member states of the Organization of American States (OAS) have already confirmed the participation of their Foreign Affairs Ministers at the upcoming General Assembly to be held in Lima.

As is known, this meeting of countries of the Americas will take place in the Peruvian capital, Lima, from October 5 to 7.

"Delegations from more than 30 countries of the American hemisphere will arrive in our country. Twenty-four OAS member states have confirmed their participation at the Foreign Affairs Ministerial Level," the Peruvian government agency published on its official Twitter account.

Also, among the delegations that will be led by their Foreign Affairs Ministers in Lima are those of Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Peru (South America).

They will be joined by delegations of Bahamas, Belize, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guatemala, Haiti, Jamaica, Panama, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Lucia, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago (Central America and the Caribbean), Canada, and the United States (North America).

The 52nd General Assembly of the Organization of American States will be held in person in Lima —after having taken place virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic over the past two years.

This instance is in charge of defining the mandates, actions, policies, and mechanisms implemented by the OAS throughout the year.
