Peru is at a level where it is capable of achieving any goal when it works together as one,
"It is the first time in history that we have returned to a city to host the Pan American Games again after just eight years," Ilic, who is also a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), stated in reference to the Lima 2019 Games.
"And we are returning because we know Peru is a country that knows how to do things well, a country that—when it commits itself—moves forward," the Panam Sports official emphasized after reiterating that the Lima 2019 Pan American Games "were wonderful."
"We are returning because we were treated very well and because we know the country and its people deserve to host such an important event," he continued.
"In 2019, it was an honor to see how you supported all the athletes from Peru and across the Americas, how you filled the stadiums and made us feel at home."
Referring to the countdown that began Thursday evening, Panam Sports President said: "In one year, we will be back here, and we hope this celebration continues to grow"
"Peru is at a level where it can achieve anything it sets out to do; when Peruvians work together, they are capable of anything," Ilic pointed out.
"The excitement surrounding the Lima 2027 Games grows stronger every day, and we know that in this wonderful land everything will be first-class," he added before thanking the city of Lima, Peru, and President of the Republic Keiko Fujimori.
