Peruvian Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Roberto Sanchez on Thursday held a meeting with Israeli Ambassador Asaf Ichilevich.

At the event, it was agreed to develop a work plan aimed at boosting agro-export development and tourism in the South American country based on the successful experiences of the Middle Eastern State.

In this sense, the Mincetur head affirmed that Israel's experience in technological development and tourism is relevant for Peru, which will offer important benefits mainly to local economies.

During the meeting, Minister Sanchez asked Ambassador Ichilevich to coordinate support actions in technology transfer, basically linked to agro-exports.

On this occasion, technical irrigation, water resource management, and food technology, among other topics, were addressed.

"Israel is, to a large extent, the country of origin of many assets for technological improvement in agriculture. It is clear that we must learn from Israel, which develops successful agriculture in the middle of the desert and in hostile conditions. This will enable the promotion of agro-exports," he indicated.

Tourism

Concerning tourism, the Foreign Trade and Tourism Ministry head said it is essential that Israel's experience be known, through training of public officials nationwide —in terms of innovation, management, and positioning of tourist destinations.

"The relations between Peru and Israel are in an excellent moment. Friendship ties are at a great level. Thanks to your important support, we are sure that we can provide more opportunities for Peruvians," he concluded.
