Economy and Finance Minister Denisse Miralles reiterated on Monday that Peru's economic activity is expected to grow this year above the 3.3% projected by the Central Reserve Bank (BCR).

"Our target is slightly higher; we expect to close the year with a bit more than the 3.3% announced by the Central Reserve Bank of Peru," Miralles told RPP Noticias.

"Growth generates jobs, opportunities, and greater resources to meet the population's needs. Our goal is to close the year with growth even higher than projected," she added.

It should be noted that last week the BCR raised its growth forecast for Peruvian economy from 3.2% to 3.3% this year. Likewise, it improved its outlook from 2.9% to 3% for 2026.

The government official stressed that Peru's economic growth would be driven by improved terms of trade, strong export performance, and the dynamism of the agro-export sector.

"A very important factor is our terms of trade and exports—especially agro-exports, which have posted very strong growth. This generates jobs and greater opportunities for the development of small businesses. These are the direct effects of growth, and we are moving in that direction," Miralles noted.

"The issue of mineral prices has meant that we now have more resources to address a greater share of the population's demands," she added.

On the other hand, the Cabinet member explained that the delegated powers in tax matters and public investment management will make it possible to update regulations, combat new forms of fraud, strengthen tax administration, and improve the budgetary review of projects.

"Closing gaps requires not only resources, but also strong institutions, clear rules, and fiscal responsibility. That is this government's commitment: to leave the house in order and a clear path forward for the future," she asserted.
