The
highlighted that the joint efforts of fiscal and monetary policy have been key to Peru continuing to record the lowest inflation rates in the region.
Minister Raul Perez Reyes stated that this situation was observed in May 2025, when the Peruvian economy posted the best inflation performance in South America, even below countries such as Mexico.
"Both policies are working to lower inflation and recover economic activity. The BCR is doing a very important job. We will hand over to the next government an economy with low inflation and growing," he said.
Peru's inflation rate was below those recorded in neighboring countries, such as Chile, which posted a monthly price increase of 0.2%; while Colombia registered 0.3% and Ecuador 1%.
Additionally, price trends in Peru were also more stable than those in Mexico and Brazil, both of which recorded 0.3% inflation.
