in which they addressed issues such as reinforcing mutual collaboration to strengthen the administration of justice in the fight against crime and corruption.
"The meeting served to explore how we can strengthen our collaboration, as well as to reinforce our commitment to the Judiciary of Peru for the benefit of all," the diplomat stated.
Therefore, the envoy highlighted the importance of collaboration between the two institutions in achieving joint objectives regarding the main challenges of democracy.
"At this time of fundamental challenges the country is facing, intersectoral and interinstitutional collaboration is essential to provide a holistic response, and the collaboration of all government authorities is needed, but there is also room for collaboration with international partners," he said.
During the meeting, Tello Gilardi and Cook discussed the promotion of gender equality policies and support for women and other family members who are victims of violence.
Likewise, the situation of other vulnerable populations was addressed, particularly indigenous communities, with reference to emblematic cases such as "Saweto" and that of the girls who were victims of abuse in Condorcanqui province, Amazonas region.
Gavin Cook also highlighted the fundamental role played by the Judiciary in improving the administration of justice, which is why the United Kingdom reaffirms its willingness to support this work.
"The Judiciary is leading the cases and plays a fundamental role, and we are committed to supporting this fight and promoting collaboration with all branches of the State," he stated.
This meeting between the two authorities took place in the Ambassadors' Hall of the Lima-based National Palace of Justice. It was attended by officials from the British Embassy and the Judiciary.
